Vivian Girls: Dreamy Garage Pop At Its Finest
This New York based garage pop band consists of three girls: Cassie Ramone, Katy Goodman and Fiona Campbell. The band was formed in 2007 by Cassie, Katy and a former member Frankie Rose. Frankie was replaced by Ali Koehler in 2008 and when Ali decided to leave the band for Best Coast, Fiona replaced her.

Vivian Girls started playing shows in New York and New Jersey in 2007. It only took them a couple of months to get a strong local following. They started their journey to the top by supporting widely known bands like Jay Reatard, Sonic Youth and The King Khan & BBQ Show.
Their first single was released in 2008 by Mauled By Tigers and In The Red. By now they have released seven singles and three albums. Their newest album called "Share The Joy" was released this spring via Polyvinyl.

What does it sound like? I think Vivian Girls sounds like a depressed (but not depressing) version of Best Coast but these girls are lyrically better than Best Coast. While listening to tracks like "I Heard You Say" I can hear a touch of The Growlers too, it's probably because of the hollow type of sound. If you're into simple and fuzzy garage pop, you'll love Vivian Girls.
